The week-long convention, which salutes the best of New York cabaret, will be held Oct. 16-20, 2006. Donald F. Smith, the executive director of the Mabel Mercer Foundation, told Playbill.com that for the second consecutive year, the convention will be held at the Frederick P. Rose Hall's Rose Theater, The Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Produced by the Mabel Mercer Foundation, the first annual Cabaret Convention was mounted in 1989. Since that time similar events have been produced in Chicago, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.
