Adam Cooper is nominated for a 1999 Tony Award for his lead role of "The Swan" in Swan Lake. Cooper joined London's Royal Ballet in 1989, was promoted to First Artist and Soloist in 1991, and to Principal in 1994.

Since 1997, Adam has been a Freelance Artist. His repertory includes Romeo, Tybalt, Lescaut (Manon), Crown Prince Rudolf (Mayerling), Prince Siegfried (Swan Lake), Kings of the North and South (Prince of the Pagodas), Vershinin (Winter Dreams), Le Corsair pas de deux, Les Deux Pigeons, Bridegroom (Les Noces), Les Biches, Tsarevich (The Firebird), Espada (Don Quixote), First Red Knight (Checkmate), and Room of Cooks.

Adam created the role of The Swan in this production, which he has performed in London, L.A. and on tour in Britain. While in Britain, Cooper received a 1995 Time Out Award and a 1997 Evening Standard Award for the role. More recently, Adam created the role of The Pilot in Matthew Bourne's Cinderella at the Piccadilly Theatre and has danced the title role in the revival of Tales of Hoffman with the Scottish Ballet. Choreography includes Elegy for Two, Reflections Images of Dance, Just Scratchin' the Surface, The Scottish Ballet.
