On the heels of a grand and bawdy Easter Bonnet competition to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS on April 24, the cast of The Rocky Horror Show will give a special performance at midnight on April 26 to benefit the Actors’ Fund.
Because such performances are donated additions to a given show’s schedule, they offer other Broadway cast members an opportunity to see their peers outside the confines of the regular Broadway timetable.
The midnight matinee for Rocky Horror is doubly unique because even Actors’ Fund shows are rarely done at midnight. An Actors’ Fund spokesperson told Playbill On-Line that Natasha Richardson suggested a midnight matinee for Closer a few years back “because she felt the show was so naughty and that it worked perfectly at midnight.”
Rocky Horror producers seem to agree, and as many as 200 members of various Broadway casts are expected at Circle in the Square to do call backs and to “cavort in the aisles” with the likes Joan Jett, Tom Hewitt, Dick Cavett, Lea DeLaria and Alice Ripley of the Rocky cast.
Tickets are still available for the show according to production sources. Tickets are on sale for $49.50 and $85. For tickets call (212) 221-7300 ext. 133/134 or call TeleCharge at (212) 239-6200, or visit www.actorsfund.org.
