News 2001 ASCAP New York Musical Theatre Workshop Runs April 16-May 16 in NYC ASCAP’s Musical Theatre Workshop (East Coast) takes place April 16-May 16 under the direction of composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz. An Oscar and Grammy winner, Schwartz’ credits include Godspell, Pippin, and the Walt Disney animated films “Pocahontas,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Prince of Egypt. The workshop takes place at ASCAP's New York offices at One Lincoln Center.

ASCAP’s Musical Theatre Workshop (East Coast) takes place April 16-May 16 under the direction of composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz. An Oscar and Grammy winner, Schwartz’ credits include Godspell, Pippin, and the Walt Disney animated films “Pocahontas,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Prince of Egypt. The workshop takes place at ASCAP's New York offices at One Lincoln Center. According to the performing right group’s statement, ASCAP workshop participants will “present selections from their original works in progress for professional critique.” Prominent guests from all aspects of musical theatre, including producers, directors, critics, performers and composers are invited to critique the workshop submissions. At various times, panelists have included Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, David Zippel, Sheldon Harnick and ASCAP president Marilyn Bergman.

ASCAP’s Musical Theatre Workshop is part of a series sponsored by ASCAP’s foundation. ASCAP workshops are free.
