Twenty years ago, the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, developed the Vietnam war drama Tracers in a series of experimental workshops which led to a successful and long-running production. On Jan. 13 the Odyssey will bring back Tracers in an anniversary production expected to run eight weeks. The show's original director/co-creator, John DiFusco, returns to handle the reins, with an ensemble cast featuring Vaughn Armstrong, Roberto Bacalski, James Isaac Barry, Richard Biggs, Richard Chavira, Greg Fitzpatrick, Abner Genece and Damon Shalit.
Tracers paints a powerful portrait of the war in Vietnam (and its aftermath) as seen through the eyes of a bunch of foot soldiers. The play was also well-received in New York.
DiFusco's other directorial credits include White People and Ali. His creative team includes Mark Svastics (set), David Flad (lights), Anya Berger (costumes) and Erik Bleur (sound). The producer is Ron Sossi.
Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located at 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd. For tickets and information call (310) 477-2055.
