Justin Peck may be a force in the ballet world, but Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel marks the wunderkind choreographer’s first foray on Broadway. “I actually had trouble writing my [Playbill] bio,” he confessed in the video above. “I hadn't really done anything. I was like, “I guess I'll write Broadway debut...’”

Now a Tony nominee, the resident choreographer of the New York City Ballet has a bit of theatre cred to ad to his résumé, especially since the show racked up a total of 11 nominations. “That was really surprising and exciting,” he said of the love for the full production. “I felt like a proud dance mom for my entire cast. I was so excited for everyone and the show and everyone’s hard work on it. It was a huge moment for us.”
