Rivendell artistic director Tara Mallen directs a cast that includes Keith Kupferer (Aaron, others), Sandra Marquez (as Beatriz), Ashley Neal (Olivia, the daughter) and Teatro Vista artistic director Eddie Torres (Manuel, others) in the tale of a road trip between Beatriz, "a fiery Cuban mother with a warm heart, and her estranged, 15-year-old Jewish daughter, Olivia."

When they "depart at midnight for a spontaneous cross country road trip, neither is prepared for what lies ahead," according to production notes. "[The play] reminds us that the best souvenirs on the road of life are the relationships we make along the way. And that sometimes all it takes to find yourself is the power of family…and a herd of buffalo."

Hudes, the daughter of a Jewish father and Puerto Rican mother, is perhaps best known for writing the book for In the Heights, winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical (she was nominated for Best Book). Her Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
