LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Repertory Company, known for its ambitious productions (Back to Methuselah, Assassins) launches a new program of intimate performances presented in the Robert Pickering Studio Theatre.

In My Humble Opinion, an evening of five short plays, features two world premieres, two L.A. premieres and a revival of a minor classic, all written by Ovation Award nominee Richard Hellesen.

The performance schedule is April 23-May 10, Thu.-Sat. nights at 8 PM.

Directed by LA Rep's producing director, Peter Ellenstein, the evening begins with Layin' Off the Lizard-Boy, set in a circus side show. Then Untamed travels back in time and verse to visit Kate and Petruchio -- in divorce court! Next stop is Counting Ninas, a Broadway opening night where a creative partnership is challenged by ambition, resignation, success, failure and finally, AIDS. In Four One-Hundreths, an Olympic swimmer is nearly drowned by a short dip into a commercial cesspool.

The evening ends with Dos Corazones, written in English and Spanish, where two mothers discover the possibility of hope and understanding through the shared language of motherhood. The play received unanimous critic's picks and an Ovation award nomination for best writing when it premiered under Ellenstein's direction in 1994. For information, call (312) 226-6997.
