The musical parody of the best-selling novel had originally been scheduled to begin performances at the Elektra Theatre Nov. 18, prior to an official opening Jan. 9, 2014. The performances have been postponed due to technical issues with The Elektra Theatre.
50 Shades! The Musical features a book by Al Samuels, Amanda Blake Davis, Emily Dorezas, Jody Shelton, Ashley Ward and Dan Wessels and music and lyrics by Samuels, Davis, Shelton, Ward and Wessels.
Here's how the production is billed: "50 Shades! The Musical is about sex, humor, and bondage. Adapted from one of the most popular books of all time, it features the infamous characters Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, whose intensely erotic relationship comes to laugh-out-loud life in this new parody, with original songs, for the stage."
The production has set and costume design by John Dunnett, lighting design by Herrick Goldman and sound design by Matt Kraus. Joy Dewing is the casting director.
A new start date for the musical will be announced for 2014. Visit 50ShadesTheMusical.com for more information.
