News 9 to 5, Guys and Dolls, Next to Normal and Christmas Story: The Musical to Play 5th Avenue Theatre Resident productions of Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma! and A Christmas Story: The Musical! will be part of the 2010-2011 season at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre.

The season launches with the national tour of the Tony-winning musical In the Heights, Sept. 28-Oct. 17. The Washington Heights-set tuner has a score by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes.

After a world-premiere engagement at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre last holiday season (where it received multiple extensions), the new musical adaptation of the 1983 holiday film A Christmas Story will run Nov. 30-Dec. 19. Director Eric Rosen and choreographer Kelly Devine, who staged the KC Rep premiere, will again present the production that has a score by Scott Davenport Richards and a libretto by Joseph Robinette.

As previously reported, the Off-Broadway musical Vanities will make its Northwest premiere in a co-presentation between the 5th Avenue and A Contemporary Theatre Feb. 4-April 3, 2011. Writers David Kirshenbaum (music and lyrics) and Jack Heifner (book based on his novel) will be in residence to develop the production.

Also on the bill is the announced tour of Next to Normal, which will run Feb. 22-March 13, 2011. The dramatic pop musical about a family in crisis has a Tony-winning score by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (who also penned the book).

The Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5 will run April 5-24, 2011. Parton, who starred in the iconic 1980's film, penned the score to the production that has a book by original screen writer Patricia Resnick. Frank Loesser's classic musical Guys and Dolls will roll the dice May 17-June 3, 2011. The tale of gamblers and their dames has a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.

The final production will be Rodgers and Hammerstein's hopeful musical about the American West, Oklahoma!, running July 12-24, 2011.
