News A Boy Wants to Play Little Orphan Annie on Stage in New Musical, That's Andy, Getting NYC Readings March 14 That's Andy, a new darkly satiric musical about a boy who just wants to play Little Orphan Annie in Annie, gets two New York City readings March 14 with a cast that includes Broadway's Beth Leavel, George Dvorsky, Jen Cody, Laura Bell Bundy and Joan Barber.

The presentation, by Ergo Theatre Company, features newcomer Christian Johansen as Andy. Jen Cody (Urinetown) will play Broadway legend Mary Martin in the comic musical. The new musical is conceived and directed by Robert Jay Cronin and has music by BMI Workshop graduate Kevin Carter and book and lyrics by playwright Crystal Skillman.

According to Ergo, That's Andy is "a darkly comic satire" that "tells the story of a 10-year-old boy with bright fiery red hair who dreams of playing the title role in Annie. When the charismatic, new Mayor Utter declares that he will produce Annie in order to lure corporations to the impoverished town of Grand Falls, Andy is sure his dreams have come true. But when Andy shows up to the audition in a red dress, chaos erupts in his wholesome town and Andy becomes more like Annie in real life than he'd like to be. Lots of laughs and a strong heart ground the musical which challenges the meanings of 'right and wrong.'"
