The actor, who also received an Academy Award nomination for his work in “The Seventh Cross,” will be part of “A Cause for Celebration!,” which features an onstage dialogue between the actor — the first member of the Guthrie Theater’s acting company — and Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling. The evening will honor members of the theatre’s founding steering committee: H. Harvard Arnason, Pierce Butler, John Cowles Jr., Roger Kennedy, Otta Silha, Justin Smith, Philip von Blon and Louis Zelle. A dinner will follow at Minneapolis’ Windows on Minnesota, IDS Tower. Tickets for “A Cause for Celebration!” — including dialogue and dinner — are priced at $150 and are available by calling (612) 313-0502. Hume Cronyn received a Tony Award for his performance in the 1964 production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. He also received Tony nominations for his work in Big Fish, Little Fish; A Delicate Balance; The Gin Game; and The Petition. He and his late first wife, Jessica Tandy, were awarded a Lifetime Achievement Tony in 1994.
