News A COVER STORY: The Lyons The Cort Theatre box office will open March 22 for the Broadway transfer of Nicky Silver's biting family play The Lyons, starring Tony Award winners Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa.

Following a critically acclaimed fall 2011 world premiere at the Vineyard Theatre, The Lyons will begin Broadway previews April 5 prior to an April 23 opening at the Cort Theatre. Mark Brokaw (Cry-Baby, Reckless) again directs.

Lavin (Broadway Bound) and Latessa (Hairspray) reunite with fellow members of the original Off-Broadway company, including Michael Esper (Assistance) and Kate Jennings Grant (Proof) as their dysfunctional adult children; and Brenda Pressley as a nurse and Gregory Wooddell as a real estate agent.

The Vineyard Theatre production of The Lyons will be presented on Broadway by producer Kathleen K. Johnson.

Here's how the play is billed: "The Lyons is a funny and edgy work starring Linda Lavin as Rita Lyons, the indomitable matriarch of a family at a major crossroads: her husband is dying, her son's in a dubious relationship, her daughter's struggling to stay sober and on top of it all, she can't settle on a new design for the living room."

The original design team for The Lyons returns: scenic design by Allen Moyer; lighting design by David Lander; costume design by Michael Krass; and original music and sound design by David Van Tieghem.

Tickets to The Lyons on Broadway range in price from $26.50-$126.50. Performances will play Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays at 2 PM and 8 PM, Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 2 and 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.

Tickets to The Lyons are on sale through Telecharge.com and at (212) 239-6200. The Cort Theatre is located at 138 W. 48 St.
