The Broadway production of A Doll’s House, Part 2 has extended its run at the John Golden Theatre. Performances are now scheduled to run through January 7, 2018. Lucas Hnath’s follow-up to the Ibsen classic was initially slated to play a 16-week limited engagement.
The production has the distinction of earning Tony Award nominations for its entire cast: Laurie Metcalf in Best Actress in a Play, Oscar winner Chris Cooper in Best Actor in a Play, and Condola Rashad and Jayne Houdyshell in Best Featured Actress in a Play (Houdyshell won in that same category last year for The Humans).
A Doll’s House Part 2 also earned Tony nominations for Best Play, Best Direction of a Play for Sam Gold, Best Costume Design of a Play for David Zinn, and Best Lighting Design of a Play for Jennifer Tipton.
The comedy picks up several years after A Doll’s House as Nora returns home to her husband and children—those she left to pursue her own happiness. Now, she must reconnect with the people she closed the door on to maintain her livelihood.
