Video   A First Look at Debra Jo Rupp as Della, From Della's Sweets, in Bekah Brunstetter's The Cake

Della loves talkin' sweet and baking wedding cakes, but is she prepared to make this one?

In the exclusive video above, Manhattan Theatre Club gives us a sneak peek at Debra Jo Rupp as Della, the sweet-talking North Carolina baker at the center of Bekah Brunstetter's play The Cake. When her late best friend's daughter asks her to make a cake for her same-sex wedding, Della is forced to re-examine her deeply held beliefs.

The Cake, directed by MTC Artistic Director Lynne Meadow, will begin performances February 12 at New York City Center – Stage I ahead of a March 5 opening.

Rupp is reprising the role she originated at Los Angeles' Echo Theatre and played at Barrington Stage Company and the Geffen Playhouse. Rounding the cast Off-Broadway are Marinda Anderson, Genevieve Angelson, and Dan Daily. Read more here.
