A theatre-loving koala bear named Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) tries to save his playhouse with a singing competition in the animated film Sing, from the creators of the cartoon hit Despicable Me.
The film, which opens December 21 across North America, got a special debut screening September 11 at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto.
Produced by Illumination Entertainment and directed by Garth Jennings, Sing features the voices of Reese Witherspoon, Nick Offerman, Seth MacFarlane, John C. Reilly, Leslie Jones, Jay Pharoah and dozens of other pop stars, playing animal characters who are vying in the film's centerpiece American Idol-style competition.
The soundtrack includes more than 60 songs. Amid pop hits like “Anaconda” and “Firework,” audiences will hear Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley’s “Candyman” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen's “Come Fly With Me,” and Frank Loesser’s “Luck Be a Lady” from Guys and Dolls.
