Ain’t Too Proud—The Life and Times of The Temptations officially opened August 24 at Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre, where it is scheduled to play through September 30. The jukebox musical will open at the Imperial Theatre (currently home to Carousel, closing September 16) in spring 2019.

Leading the production as the Temptations are Derrick Baskin as Otis Williams, James Harkness as Paul Williams, Jawan M. Jackson as Melvin Franklin, Jeremy Pope as Eddie Kendricks, and Ephraim Sykes as David Ruffin.

With a book by Kennedy Prize-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau and a score made up of The Temptations’ hit songs, Ain’t Too Proud premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where it became the highest-grossing production in that theatre’s history.

Two-time Tony winner Des McAnuff directs, with choreography by Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo. The musical also features sets by Robert Brill, costumes by Paul Tazewell, lighting by Howell Binkley, sound design by Steve Canyon Kennedy, projection design by Peter Nigrini, orchestrations by Harold Wheeler, and music direction by Kenny Seymour.
