The Public Theater's Mobile Unit production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest will continue its tour of New York's five boroughs through April 27, after beginning performances April 4. The production, directed by Laurie Woolery and starring Myra Lucretia Taylor (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play) as Prospero, will then play a free, three week sit-down run at the Public's Shiva Theater.

Rounding out the cast are Jasai Chase Owens as Ferdinand, Dan Domingues as Antonio, Danaya Esperanza as Ariel, Christopher Ryan Grant as Caliban, Sam Morales as Miranda, Nancy Rodriguez as Gonzalo, Reza Salazar as Sebastian, and JD Webster as Alonso.

In The Tempest, Prospero, a powerful magician and the rightful Duchess of Milan, has been usurped by her brother and has escaped to a remote and barren island. There, despite the unforgiving landscape, she has tried her best to make a home for her daughter, Miranda. When Prospero conjures a powerful storm to sink her brother’s ship, she must decide how to deal with him and his confederates, who have washed ashore.
