"I'm thrilled to extend my run in The Fantasticks and I'm looking forward to spending the summer in New York performing," Carter said in a statement.

Previously seen on Broadway in Seussical and as a 2009 contestant on "Dancing With the Stars," Carter began performances in The Fantasticks Nov. 7 and was originally scheduled to depart the production Jan. 22 and later extended his contract through April 22. The latest announcement marks his second extension in the long-running musical romance.

Carter toured as the opening act for The Backstreet Boys, of which his brother Nick Carter, is a member. In addition to his self-titled debut album, he has released "Aaron's Party," " Oh, Aaron," "Another Earthquake" and the collection album "Most Requested Hits." He played Jojo/The Littlest Who in the Broadway cast of Seussical.
