The actor, writer, and former Daily Show correspondent will return Off-Broadway in his Obie-winning solo show.

Actor, writer, and former correspondent for The Daily Show Aasif Mandvi returns to the stage in October in the Obie Award-winning Sakina’s Restaurant. The solo play, which will begin performances October 5 at the Minetta Lane Theatre, tells the story of an Indian immigrant who comes to New York to pursue the American dream.

Originally seen Off-Broadway 20 years ago, Sakina’s Restaurant will be remounted for a limited run in an all-new production from Audible, directed by Kimberly Senior. Watch Playbill's interview with Mandvi and Senior in the video above.

Written and performed by Mandvi, Sakina’s Restaurant will officially open October 14 at the Minetta Lane. The performance will also be recorded as an Audible Original production.

Sakina’s Restaurant was originally directed and developed by Kimberly Hughes under the tutelage of Wynn Handman.

The creative team for the remount includes Wilson Chin (scenic design), Jen Caprio (costume design), Mary Louise Geiger (lighting design), and Jill BC Du Boff (sound design).
