News ABC Greenlights Pilot Executive-Produced by Daveed Diggs The comedy concerns a hip-hop artist.
ABC has given the okay for a new comedy pilot about a hip-hop artist who becomes a mayor, according to Deadline.com.



Daveed Diggs, who won a Tony Award for his performance in the megahit musical Hamilton, will executive produce the single-camera comedy along with Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber & Dylan Clark’s Bluegrass FanFare. Diggs will not act in the series.



Jeremy Bronson, who penned the script, also produces. James Griffiths will direct.



The currently untitled series, according to the industry website, “centers on a struggling hip-hop artist who runs for mayor to promote his mixtape—and wins.”



Diggs’ TV acting credits include The Get Down and Black-ish.
