As part of the cast of the forthcoming live-action remake of the Disney animated classic Beauty and the Beast, actor Josh Gad is one of a select few who knows what to expect when the film hits screens in March 2017.
Gad, Tony-nominated for his performance in The Book of Mormon, told Entertainment Tonight that the movie is “magical.”
“It builds on the animated classic,” says Gad. “It evolves like Jungle Book evolved from the source material, like Cinderella evolved from the source material, but it goes further into the trenches in terms of the mythology, in terms of the characters, and there’s a scope to it and a pathos to it that, having seen it, I can tell you was unexpectedly very emotional, and I just think that the new music, as well as the old music—it’s going to blow everybody away.”
Gad also praised his co-star, Dan Stevens, for his “incredible” portrayal of the Beast.
The sidekick to the villainous Gaston, Disney first welcomed Gad to the House of Mouse with his voiceover as the singing and snuggly snowman Olaf in the hit film Frozen.
