News Actors Fund President Wins Arts Advocacy Award Joseph P. Benincasa was honored at the George Street Playhouse gala.

The Actors Fund president and CEO Joseph P. Benincasa received the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award from George Street Playhouse artistic director David Saint and the award’s namesake, former New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean, at the Playhouse’s Annual Gala Benefit, held May 22 at the Heldrich Hotel & Conference Center in New Brunswick, NJ.

George Street honored The Actors Fund for providing “social services, emergency financial assistance, housing, health care and insurance counseling, and employment and training services to performers and all who work in the performing arts and entertainment.”

Performers at the Gala included Grammy Award-nominated singer and Broadway star Maureen McGovern (“The Morning After,” Little Women), actress/singer Jessica Fontana (Broadway’s Cinderella), actress/singer/dancer Krystal Joy Brown (Broadway’s Motown) and Robert Creighton (Off-Broadway’s Cagney), among others.
