The Actors' Fund of America has launched an addition to its website -- the Artists' Health Insurance Resource Center. The main site feature is a section on finding insurance for small groups and individuals, further categorized by state, age, medical condition and employment status. The site also provides a glossary of insurance terms, helpful insurance hunting tips, links to other insurance, arts and health centers on the web and the opportunity to contact the AHIRC.
In 1994, a lack of health insurance throughout the United States inspired the National Endowment of the Arts to start the AHIRC to assist the arts community in assessing health care options. The Actor's Fund serves as a partner organization in the NEA's initiative.
