News Actors' Temple Hosts First Monthly Broadway Shabbat for Performing Arts Community Oct. 11 The Actors' Temple offers its first monthly Broadway Shabbat Oct. 11 at 6 PM.

Described as "a special service for the performing arts community," Broadway Shabbat is a short service prepared for performing artists that concludes in time for them to make their half-hour calls.

Cast and crew members from Jersey Boys, Newsies, Wicked and Annie will be in attendance, as well as artists from Soul Doctor, the musical about Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach that will close on Broadway Oct. 13.

Led by Rabbi Jill Hausma, Broadway Shabbat is organized by members of the Broadway community, and the service features prayers and songs in the form of a religious open mic. Russell Fischer (Jersey Boys) leads the songs.

The service is held the second Friday of each month, pending holiday conflicts.
