News   Actors, Writers, Producers to Tell Their Tales of Unemployment in L.A. Fired! Illeana Douglas, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Charlayne Woodard join the unemployment lineup of Fired! in the Los Angeles Theatre Works presentation of Annabelle Gurwitch's collection, March 16-20, at the Skirball Cultural Center.

Part of the radio theater series "The Play’s The Thing," the live performances will be recorded for future radio broadcast. The rotating cast also features Carl Capotorto ("The Sopranos"), Paul Feig (creator of "Freaks and Geeks"), Dana Gould (producer of "The Simpsons"), Jason Kravits ("The Practice"), Taylor Negron ("The Last Boy Scout"), Sandra Tsing Loh (Sugar Plum Fairy), Ann Magnuson ("Wanda at Large"), Jim Turner (HBO's "Arli$$"), Matt Walsh ("Old School") and other surprise guests.

Television personality Annabelle Gurwitch ("Dinner and a Movie," "Not Necessarily the News"), whose stage credits Joe and Betty, Uncommon Women and Others, talks of being fired by her idol Woody Allen during rehearsals of the Off-Broadway staging of Writer's Block. "After writing and performing a piece about the experience, many others were inspired to tell their tales," promotional materials explain.

The original one-night presentation of the work at Second Stage Theatre featured Craig Bierko (The Music Man), Tonya Pinkins (Caroline, or Change), Eric Simonson (The Capeman), Ron Orbach (The Producers) and Fisher Stevens (The Exonerated) all spinning their tales of woe and sudden unemployment. So popular was the event, that it returned two months later for a week of additional performances.

Upcoming performances in "The Play’s the Thing" series include Christopher Nixon's new translation of Antigone (April 6-10), Arthur Miller's The Ride Down Mt. Morgan with Marsha Mason (May 11-15), Nilo Cruz's Anna in the Tropics (June 15-19) and a play to be announced (July 13-17).

All performances are recorded for future broadcast to cities including Boston, Seattle, Santa Fe as well as on XM Satellite radio.
