PlayBlog Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed Perform "A Million Miles Away" From 5th Avenue's Aladdin (Video) The full-length staged production of Aladdin will officially open July 21 at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. The two-hour and 15-minute pilot production, directed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon), is scheduled to run through July 31.

Aladdin, which began previews July 7, is being used to launch the new two-act version as a licensable property for professional and amateur organizations through Music Theatre International, which handles rights for Disney Theatrical titles.

Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed star as Aladdin and Jasmine, repectively. Here, the two sing "A Million Miles Away," a new song that has been added to the stage production.

The musical, according to press notes, "incorporates all of the beloved songs from the film's Oscar-winning score plus never-before-heard Menken/Ashman songs restored from early drafts of the film. It marks a return to the authors' original vision: a loving homage to the Hope-Crosby road pictures with a score invoking the jazz sound of stars like Cab Calloway and Fats Waller."
