The gala kicks off National Stuttering Awareness Week (May 10-16) and will include performances by Aida's Adam Pascal, Swing!'s Everett Bradley, pop singer Lucy Woodward, "Spin City" star Sandy Chaplin, the cast of Off-Broadway's Stomp and members of Our Time Theatre Company, who will perform their original songs with the evening's guests. The gala will also include the presentation of the Our Time Award to Dr. Alan Rabinowitz. The award, which will be presented by host Alexander, is given to an individual "who has improved the quality of life and been an inspiration to people who stutter." About the theatre company, Jane Alexander said in a statement, "Our Time Theatre Company is unique in the vast, diverse, and exciting array of New York theatres. This theatre is a home for those who stutter. When these young performers get on stage, they soar! You have to see it to believe how inspirational, how moving, and exciting this theatre experience can be."
The gala will be held at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, 121 Christopher Street. Cocktails will begin at 6 PM at Andavi (91 Christopher Street), followed by the 8 PM performance. Tickets are priced $50 (performance only), $150 (cocktail reception and special seating at performance) and $500 (2 tickets to cocktail reception, VIP seating and recognition in the program).
