Rapp directs Denham's work which opens May 15 at the downtown stage for a run scheduled through June 18. (Denham currently stars in Red Light Winter, which Rapp wrote and directed.)

In cagelove, "When a woman brings charges of rape against her former lover, her husband becomes obsessed with his attempts to uncover the real truth," according to Rattlestick.

Daniel Eric Gold (The Paris Letter, Small Tragedy), Gillian Jacobs ("The Book of Daniel," Rapp's upcoming film "Blackbird") and Emily Cass McDonnell (Indoor/Outdoor, Aunt Dan and Lemon) star In the work.

The design team for cagelove includes John McDermott (sets), Erika Monro (costumes), Ed McCarthy (lights) and Eric Shim (sound). Sarah Bishop-Stone serves as assistant director and Paige van den Burg is production stage manager.

Rapp's Finer Noble Gases appeared at Rattlestick in 2004. The scribe has also penned the plays Nocturne, Stone Cold Dead Serious, Blackbird, Gompers, Bingo with the Indians, Trueblinka and Faster as well as the screenplay to "Winter Passing." He made his Off-Broadway directorial debut recently with his own Red Light Winter. Denham played the young boy in the Broadway revival of Athol Fugard's Master Harold... opposite Danny Glover and Michael Boatman and also appeared Off Broadway in Charles L. Mee's Wintertime. The actor has also authored six plays including In Film, Rapist James, The Last Penitente, and The Haven Trilogy as well as two novels, "The Bellringers" and "At the Spike."

cagelove replaces the previously announced staging of Dark Matters by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa—whose Based on a Totally True Story currently plays at Manhattan Theatre Club's season.
