News Adam Rapp's Ghosts in the Cottonwoods Opens in NYC Nov. 13; Amoralists in Tow Adam Rapp's Ghosts in the Cottonwoods, a new dark tale inhabited by the acclaimed downtown theatre troupe the Amoralists, officially opens Nov. 13 at Theatre 80 at St. Marks.

Rapp also directs the world-premiere production that began previews Nov. 11 and will run through Dec. 6. The cast features Amoralists regulars William Apps, James Kautz, Nick Lawson, Sarah Lemp, Mandy Nicole Moore and Matthew Pilieci.

Designing Ghosts in the Cottonwoods are Alfred Schatz (set design), Keith Parham (lighting design), Jessica Pabst (costume design) and Eric Shimelonis (sound design).

Here's how the Amoralists describe the play: "On the night of a terrible storm, a single mother and her younger son await the arrival of the older son, who has broken out of prison. Two others arrive before him: a stranger with a wounded leg and a girl with a suitcase. Nothing will ever be the same."

In recent seasons the Amoralists have presented The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side, Happy In The Poorhouse, Amerissiah, The Hey You Monster and Chasing the Fantastic.

Rapp's plays include The Metal Children, Nocturne, Faster, Animals & Plants, Finer Noble Gases, Stone Cold Dead Serious, Blackbird, Gompers, Essential Self-Defense and Red Light Winter.
