PlayBlog Addams Family Authors, Kevin Chamberlin to Appear at NYC Borders Composer-lyricist Andrew Lippa and librettists Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, the authors of the popular new Broadway musical The Addams Family, will discuss how their creation evolved out of Charles Addams' cartoons at 5 PM May 14 at the Borders in the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle, at 59th Street and Broadway.


The discussion, titled "The Addams Family: From Illustration to the Stage," will also feature Kevin Miserocchi, the director of The Tee and Charles Addams Foundation and the author of "The Addams Family: An Evilution," a new collection of Addams' original sketches. Kevin Chamberlin, a 2010 Tony Award nominee for his performance as Uncle Fester, will perform at the event. Lippa is also Tony-nommed for Best Score.

In a career spanning six decades, Charles Addams created several thousand cartoons, sketches and drawings, many of which were published in The New Yorker. His creation of characters that came to be known as The Addams Family brought Addams his greatest acclaim.
In the new musical at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, teen daughter Wednesday Addams has a "normal" boyfriend — and it shocks parents Gomez and Morticia, turning their haunted house upside down.
