"There's a new project on the way that will be markedly different from The Adding Machine," Schmidt told Playbill.com. "It's an adaptation of Bernard Shaw's Candida. It was commissioned by the Writers Theatre of Glencoe. I'm halfway done." Candida is the story of a bewitching wife who is torn by equally strong attachments to her respectable, solid pastor husband and a lowly, but impassioned young poet who has declared his love for her. It has long been one of Shaw's most popular roles, and is often sought out by actresses wishing to play the title role.

Schmidt was best known as a sound designer with many regional credits before he collaborated with Jason Loewith on The Adding Machine.
