76 years after it was first produced, The Adding Machine by Elmer Rice will be revived in a production at the Heliotrope Theatre in L.A., beginning July 29. Presented by the Sacred Fools Theatre Co., the play centers on Mr. Zero, an accountant at a large, faceless company who finds, after 25 years on the job, that he is about to be replaced by an adding machine. His pain and rage are so severe that he snaps and kills his boss.Craig Mathers portrays Mr. Zero. The cast also includes Haynes Brooke, M.E. Dunn, Stan Freitag, Joe Gold, Jeff Goldman, Timbre Henning, Amy Jopnes, Casey Klemow, Diana Kyle, Mark T.J. Lifrieri, Jesse Marion, Scott McShane, Pogo Saito, Al Vicente and Jennifer Wu.
Directing for Sacred Fools is Lauren Hollingsworth, who is one of the company's artistic directors. She has studied at Barnard and Columbia and is about to start MFA studies in film direction at USC.
