As previously reported, two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters will bring her acclaimed concert act to the Festival Theatre June 6-7. Richard Jay-Alexander will direct; musical director Marvin Laird will conduct the orchestra. Over 250 artists will be featured during the Festival, which kicks off June 5 at 7:30 PM with a Variety Gala Performance. The evening, according to press notes, "will offer a diverse sample of the 2009 Festival program featuring local and international stars, with the full line-up revealed on the night!"
Other Broadway artists who will be featured in the 16-day festival include Tony Award winner Lillias White and theatre and cabaret veteran Julie Wilson. Wilson will perform June 10-12, and White will offer From Brooklyn to Broadway June 17-19.
In a statement Adelaide Cabaret Festival artistic director David Campbell said, "I'm very proud of this year’s program, it's been wonderful to be able to bring so many incredible performers together and I can't wait to sit in the venues with the audience and soak it all in. I've been playing my cards close to my chest, but now we can reveal the full deck."
