In the play housed at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, Greg McFadden plays Roy, who, at age 28, has extended his adolescence to an absurd degree.
Being a Scout keeps his life together. "It keeps it sane, and most importantly, keeps it the same," according to production notes. "That is, until his Scout Master's uninhibited sister walks into his life, making him do very 'unScoutlike' things. In this wild ride, things may finally change for Roy…"
Badge was a 2006 semi-finalist for the National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference.
McFadden was seen in Broadway's The Caine Mutiny Court Martial.
* Jenn Thompson (who staged the NYFringe comedy The Big Doolie) directs a cast that includes Glynis Bell (Broadway's 1999 Amadeus and 1993 My Fair Lady), Tara Falk (Broadway's The Constant Wife, Metamorphoses) and Darrell James.
The creative team includes Brian Prather (set design); Bryan Keller (lighting design); and Stephen Kunken (sound design).
Playwright Matthew Schneck's plays have been developed and/or performed at The Denver Center, Soho Rep, Adobe Theatre Co., Access Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Co., Whitefish Theatre, and The Julliard School. His play A 12 lb. Discourse (co-written and co-performed with Pete Simpson) debuted in New York City at the 15 Minute Play Festival where it snagged awards for Best Acting, Best Directing and Audience Favorite for Best Play. It was expanded into a full-length play and produced by Soho Rep and directed by then-artistic director Daniel Aukin.
In summer 2006, Badge was workshopped at Vassar College. Schneck's third full-length play, Attic, opened the 2006 Octoberfest at Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City.
Badge director Thompson is producing director and a founding company member of the River Rep Theatre Company in Connecticut, for which she has performed in over 40 shows and directed productions of Dinner With Friends, The Heiress and Damn Yankees. She'll direct River Rep's The Foreigner in Chester, CT, this summer. A Broadway veteran of Annie, The Heiress and Ah, Wilderness!, Thompson has also acted and directed as a member of The Actors Company Theatre (TACT) in Manhattan.

BeaconNY Productions' 2005 inaugural production Composition, by Timothy McCracken, was given a seven-week run earlier this season year at TheaterWorks in Hartford, CT.
Badge performances will continue to July 1. Opening is June 18. Performances play Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM (Tuesday will be dark) at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place).
