According to Bogart's official website, the actor will play Joe Hardy in the Arena Stage's upcoming mounting of the classic baseball musical Damn Yankees. Directed by Arena Artistic Director Molly Smith, the Richard Adler-Jerry Ross musical about a man who sells his soul to the devil to join the Washington Senators baseball team will run Dec. 9, 2005-Feb. 5, 2006. Prior to Damn Yankees, Bogart will also star in productions of Maury Yeston's Phantom and Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Bogart will perform the title role in Phantom this summer at the Music Theatre of Wichita. Phantom will play the Kansas theatre June 8-12. He will then play opposite Jessica Boevers in the Kennedy Theatre's Hot Summer Nights season in Raleigh, NC. The Williams play will run July 20-31.
Matt Bogart was seen as Paul in the Kennedy Center mounting of Stephen Sondheim's Company, and his Broadway credits include Aida, The Civil War, Miss Saigon and Smokey Joe's Cafe. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music, Bogart has appeared in regional productions of Camelot, Carousel and Side Show, and his debut solo recording, "Simple Songs," is available on the Jay Records label. He was also recently part of the premiere cast of Frank Wildhorn's Camille Claudel at Goodspeed.
