In an interview for Wayman Wong's "The Leading Men" column for Playbill On Line — the monthly column debuts Jan. 1 — Bogart said that he will be playing Lancelot in the upcoming Paper Mill mounting. He also revealed that Brent Barrett will star as King Arthur and Glory Crampton as his Guinevere. The production of the Lerner and Loewe musical begins performances at the New Jersey theatre April 2 and runs through May 18, 2003. Only Bogart's casting could be confirmed by the Paper Mill spokesperson.
This past summer, Matt Bogart was seen as Paul in the Kennedy Center production of Stephen Sondheim's Company. The actor-singer has starred on Broadway in Aida, The Civil War, Miss Saigon and Smokey Joe's Cafe. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music, Bogart has appeared in regional productions of Carousel (at Paper Mill) and Side Show, and he recently released his debut solo recording, "Simple Songs," on the Jay Records label.
Brent Barrett received an Olivier Award nomination for his role in the London company of Kiss Me, Kate. He recently starred opposite Rachel York in the Reprise! concert of Anything Goes. Barrett's other theatrical credits include the Broadway productions of Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun and Candide. He received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for his work in the L.A. production of Chicago and has been seen Off Broadway in Closer Than Ever, March of the Falsettos, The Death of Von Richtofen, The Time of the Cuckoo and Portrait of Jenny. His television and film appearances include "Hercules," "Longtime Companion," "All My Children," "Another World" and "Guiding Light."
Glory Crampton recently played Mina in the North Shore Music Theatre's production of Dracula: A Chamber Musical. She has appeared in several Paper Mill productions, including My Fair Lady, Gigi, Nine, The Secret Garden and Jane Eyre. She starred in the world premiere of Maury Yeston's Phantom and also appears on that musical's cast recording.
