Classic Arts News Ailing Leon Fleisher Postpones Ravinia Recital Pianist Leon Fleisher has withdrawn from a recital tonight at the Ravinia Festival. According to a notice posted on the Ravinia web site, he is ill.
Fleisher was scheduled to perform works for the left hand by Dina Koston, Leon Kirchner, and Brahms, as well as two-hand works by Schubert and Bach. Fleisher suffered for more than 30 years from a neurological ailment that often prevented him from playing with his right hand, and became an expert in left-hand repertoire.

There will be no substitute performer tonight. Fleisher's performance will be rescheduled later in the Ravinia season, the web site says.
