Education News Ain't Too Proud Stars James Harkness and Jawan M. Jackson to Host 14th Annual Broadway Junior Student Finale The annual event puts New York City public school students on a Broadway stage to perform excerpts from the Broadway Junior series.

The 14th Annual Shubert Foundation / Music Theatre International Broadway Junior Student Finale will be held at 10:45 AM May 14 at Broadway's Imperial Theatre. On hand to host the event will be Ain't Too Proud stars James Harkness and Jawan M. Jackson.

Sponsored by The Shubert Foundation, Music Theatre International, and the New York City Department of Education, the annual event is the culmination of a mentorship program that helps public schools build sustainable theatre education programs. More than 500 students from participating schools in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan will perform numbers from their Broadway Junior productions at the finale event. Shows represented this year include Hairspray JR., Once on This Island JR., Disney's Aladdin JR., Disney's Beauty and the Beast JR., Legally Blonde the Musical JR., Disney's The Lion King JR., Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR., Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., and Madagascar JR.

Schools participating in the second year of the program and performing at the finale include Ebbets Field Middle School 352 in Brooklyn, George J. Ryan Middle School 216 in Queens, Hamilton Grange Middle School in Manhattan, J.H.S. 131 Albert Einstein Campus in Bronx, Lafayette Academy in Manhattan, M.S. 226 Virgil I. Grissom JHS in Queens, P.S. 111Q Jacob Blackwell School in Queens, P.S. 214 The Lorraine Hansberry Academy in Bronx, P.S. 288 The Shirley Tanyhill School in Brooklyn, P188X in Bronx, P53K in Brooklyn, P79M Dr. Horan School in Manhattan, PS/MS 207Q Rockwood Park School in Queens, and School for Global Leaders in Manhattan.
