Director Chad Larabee and actress Kathy Fitzgerald.

Directed by Chad Larabee with musical direction by Rick Hip-Flores, the 7:30 PM reading features the talents of Kathy Fitzgerald (The Producers, Swinging on a Star), Patrick Wetzel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Kevin Duda (Little Women national tour), Erin Maguire (The Great American Trailer Park, The Musical), Nathan Scherich (North Shore's Thoroughly Modern Millie) and Christy Morton (Cinderella national tour). Ain't We Got Fun is based on three short stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald — "Bernice Bobs Her Hair," "Head & Shoulders" and "A Diamond as Big as The Ritz" — and utilizes the songs of Richard Whiting; Jack Wrangler penned the book. Among the songs that are featured are "Beyond The Blue Horizon," "My Ideal," "Breezin' Along with the Breeze" and the title tune. Fun's musical adaptor, arranger and orchestrator is Michael O'Flaherty.

"At the heart of the story," production notes read, are "Fitzgerald's 'flappers,' beautiful and willful young women, the heroines of the Jazz Age who defied conventions of acceptable feminine behavior."

Director Larabee staged a concert version of Ain't We Got Fun this past July in London and hopes for an American production within the year.

The York Theatre Company is located in Manhattan at 54th Street just east of Lexington Avenue. Reservations for the free readings may be made by emailing [email protected] or by calling (212) 935-5824, ext. 24.
