Classic Arts News Akademie f‹r Alte Musik Disc Debuts on Billboard Chart Overt‹ren: Music for the Hamburg Opera, the latest CD from the Akademie f‹r Alte Musik Berlin, debuted on the Billboard classical chart this week at number seven.
The release of the album, which includes music writen for the opera house by Handel and others in the 18th century, coincided with the Akademie's first North American tour earlier this month.

Also debuting on the classical chart this week were Olga Kern's recording of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Sonata at number 16, a collection of Gregorian chants by the King's College Choir at number 22, and a disc of Albeniz's music from pianist Marc-Andr_ Hamelin at number 24.

Yo-Yo Ma and Silk Road Ensemble's Silk Road Journeys: Beyond the Horizon remained at number one for the seventh straight week.

On the classical crossover chart, Il Divo's self-titled debut, the soundtrack to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Josh Groban's Closer remained at number one, two, and three respectively. The only debut of the week was 4 + Four, a collaboration between the Turtle Island String Quartet and the Ying Quartet that blends classical music, jazz, and other influences.
