The second JVC Jazz Festival Seoul opens tonight with performances by guitarist Al Di Meola, singer Dianne Reeves, and Korean pianist Kim Kwang Min.

The two-day festival takes place at Seoul's Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Friday's events include performances by bassist Marcus Miller, the vocal group Take 6, and the Japanese quartet Four of a Kind.

The festival, one of many offshoots of the Newport Jazz Festival, is staged by George Wein's Festival Productions. The JVC series first expanded to South Korea in December 2003 with a two-night event headlined by Pat Metheny.

Di Meola and Miller arrive directly from the JVC Jazz Festival Tokyo, which took place last night.
