The large volume collects the famed artist's many drawings of British productions and performers, as well as sketches of works by British-born playwrights or of plays that simply contain a single English actor in the cast. Drawings date as far back as the late '20s and go up until recent productions such as Amy's View and The Judas Kiss.
The book contains commentary by such English artists as Julie Andrews, Simon Callow, Michael Blakemore, Cameron Mackintosh, Lynn Redgrave and Peter Shaffer.
The tome comes hot on the heels of the republication of Hirschfeld's "The Speakeasies of 1932" and the Hirschfeld volume "Harlem."
The 221-page book is priced at $39.95.
Hirschfeld died on Jan. 20, 2003.
