Alan Alda, Tony Roberts, John Cullum, Penny Fuller, Mark Blum, Michael Stuhlbarg, Obie Award winner Jeremy Shamos, Christopher Evan Welch, Bill Raymond and Brian Haley will all take part in the reading of the play, which is set some time in the future as the White House administration deals with the ramifications of a very unpopular war with Brazil. The characters include the president, the first lady, the postmaster general, the attorney general and more.

Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel are producing the reading. Gordon Edelstein directs. The New York Post reports that the producers may bring the work to Broadway in 2007.

Playwright Jules Feiffer's "Passionella" was the basis for a portion of Harnick and Bock's The Apple Tree, and he contributed material to the revue Oh! Calcutta!. Feiffer also penned the Broadway plays Little Murders, Knock Knock and Grown Ups. Feiffer and composer Andrew Lippa are currently at work creating a musical based on Feiffer's children's book "The Man in the Ceiling."
