News   Alan Cumming Will Bring One-Man Show, I Bought a Blue Car Today, to Chicago

Tony Award winner Alan Cumming will perform his one-man concert act, I Bought a Blue Car Today, at Chicago's Harris Theater May 28, marking the show's Midwest premiere.

Beginning at 7:30 PM, musical director Lance Horne and a full band will accompany Cumming as he "belt[s] out his favorite tunes—featuring everything from Cyndi Lauper and Dolly Parton to a musical montage including Hedwig and the Angry Itch and Cabaret," according to press notes. "This ever evolving autobiographical show [is] peppered with intimate tales and juicy gossip from his years in show business."

Cumming's one-man show premiered in 2009 as part of the Lincoln Center American Songbook series. The Broadway vet has since performed the show at venues all over the world, including the Sydney Opera House, the Vaudeville Theatre in London's West End and the Geffen in Los Angeles.

I Bought A Blue Car Today was a phrase Cumming was asked to recite when applying to become a U.S. citizen in fall 2008.

Cumming won the Tony Award in 1998 for his performance in Cabaret. He has also appeared on Broadway in Design for Living and The Threepenny Opera. He currently plays Eli Gold on the CBS legal drama "The Good Wife."

The Harris Theater is located in Millennium Park at 205 E. Randolph Drive, Chicago, IL. For more information and tickets, call (312) 334-7777 or visit www.HarrisTheaterChicago.org.
