News Alan Menken Series Picked Up for Second Season ABC has ordered a second season of the musical series "Galavant," according to Deadline.com.

"Galavant" delivered solid ratings in its Jan. 4 back-to-back premiere episodes. The four-week television project featured a score by Tony and Academy Award-winning Disney songwriter Alan Menken.

The Jan. 4 premiere episode of "Galavant" was watched by 6.1 million viewers overall with the follow-up episode viewed by 6.8 million overall.

A premiere date for the second season has yet to be announced.

"Galavant" starred Joshua Sasse as Galavant, Timothy Omundson as King Richard, Vinnie Jones as Gareth, Mallory Jansen as Madalena, Karen David as Isabella and Luke Youngblood as Sid.

"Galavant" was written by Dan Fogelman, who also served as executive producer. Executive producers also included Alan Menken, Glenn Slater and Chris Koch. "Galavant" is directed by Chris Koch. Abbey C Studios Ltd. produced "Galavant" for ABC Studios.

Once upon a time, the dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse), lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his 'happily ever after.' But it won't be without a few twists and turns along the way."
