As previously reported, the production, which premiered in 2004 at Hartford Stage, features two Albee one-acts: The Zoo Story and Homelife. Pam MacKinnon, who directed the Hartford engagement, will repeat her work for Manhattan audiences, and the cast will feature Bill Pullman, Dallas Roberts and Johanna Day; the latter starred in the Hartford run.
Previews will begin Oct. 19 at the Second Stage Theatre with an official opening Nov. 11 at 6:30 PM. The production will conclude Dec. 9.
The design team will include scenic designer Neil Patel, costume designer Teresa Squire and lighting designer Kevin Adams.
Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Albee, according to press notes, "delves deeper into his 1958 play The Zoo Story by adding a first-act, Homelife, leading to Peter's (Bill Pullman) fateful meeting with Jerry (Dallas Roberts) on a park bench in Central Park."
Four major Albee productions will be seen during the 2007-2008 season, during which the playwright will turn 80 (on March 12, 2008). The season has been dubbed "The Albee Season" and will also include Me, Myself and I at the McCarter Theatre, The Sandbox and The American Dream at the Cherry Lane Theatre and Occupant at the Signature Theatre Company. Second Stage Theatre is located in Manhattan at 307 West 43rd Street. Tickets may be purchased by calling (212) 246-4422 or by visiting www.2ST.com.
