The celebrity evenings are part of the Long Island non-profit theatre company's fundraising efforts in the face of a difficult economy, which has shuttered numerous non-profits nationwide. In a letter of appeal, Bay Street issued the following statement: "The economy has taken a severe toll on Bay Street's corporate sponsors, government support and annual fund raising activities this year."
As personal friends of Bay Street artistic directors Sybil Christopher and Murphy Davis, Alda and Behar are slated to perform together on Oct. 10 at 8 PM, followed by a special reception. Comedian and playwright Black will appear at the Sag Harbor venue on Oct. 14 at 8 PM.
Bay Street expects both evenings to sell-out, but notes that "donations of any size are also needed." For tickets, ranging $100-$150, or to make a donation, phone (631) 725-9500 or visit BayStreet.
