Baldwin will reportedly play a billionaire real estate developer who is unexpectedly thrust into the role of New York City's Mayor.

Scheduled to be shot in New York, the series is yet to confirm a director. According to Deadline, it will be an hour drama that explores the celebrity and political landscape of New York City. Baldwin's character is set to be a "larger-than-life" divorce whose shady past and sexual appetite will color his foray into politics. The series will be penned by fiction and non-fiction writer Wells Tower with Cary Brokaw ("Closer") and Baldwin attached as executive producers.

On his character, Baldwin told Deadline, "He’s Trump without the baggage, Bloomberg but a Democrat, George Soros if he was in real estate, a left-leaning Democrat who is also a businessman who understands the reality of how the city has to be run to create the right climate for the business community. He’s drafted for this run because the alternative would be catastrophe."

Baldwin's further Broadway credits include Orphans, Twentieth Century and Loot.
