News Alexander and Cohen Are Chasing Manet Off-Broadway, Opening April 9 Jane Alexander and Lynn Cohen star in the Primary Stages production of Tina Howe's Chasing Manet, which officially opens Off-Broadway April 9. Previews began March 24.

Michael Wilson (Dividing the Estate) directs the work by the playwright of Coastal Disturbances and Painting Churches. The limited engagement is currently scheduled to run through May 2. Alexander and Cohen are joined onstage by Vanessa Aspillaga, Jack Gilpin, Julie Halston, David Margulies and Rob Riley.

In Chasing Manet, press notes state, "a rebellious painter from a distinguished family in Boston and an ebullient Jewish woman with a huge adoring family form an unlikely bond. Inside the confining walls of Mount Airy Nursing Home, the two plot an escape to Paris aboard the QE2. But can they possibly pull it off amidst the chaos of their surroundings? The tension and comedy grow as they struggle to take wing for the last time."

Alexander has appeared onstage in What of the Night, The Visit, The Sisters Rosensweig and Honour and in the films "All the President's Men" and "Kramer vs. Kramer" as well as HBO's "Warm Springs" and "Tell Me You Love Me."

Cohen has been seen on Broadway in Ivanov and Orpheus Descending as well as Off-Broadway in Macbeth, The Golem, The Devils, The Model Apartment and Isn't It Romantic. On screen she has appeared in the films "Sex and the City," "Munich," "The Hottest State," "Vanya on 42nd Street," "Cradle Will Rock," "Across the Universe" and "Synecdoche, New York."

The design team includes Tony Straiges (set), David C. Woolard (costume), Howell Binkley (light) and John Gromada (sound). Susie Cordon serves as production stage manager.
